The Newfoundland and Labrador government has extended its agreement with Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited for six months, starting October 1, 2024. This extension involves Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro purchasing excess green energy from the company’s Deer Lake Power assets, helping Hydro during peak winter demand without affecting ratepayers. In return, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper will continue exploring sustainable wood-based projects. The government is committed to supporting the forestry industry and working on long-term solutions for the mill and its workers.
